A group for those traveling to Korea for the first time.
Essential for Traveling in Korea: How to Purchase and Use a T-money Card
For those visiting Korea for the first time, I'm sharing information on the T-money card, which is the first thing you should prepare.
- Where to buy: You can easily purchase one at convenience stores inside the airport or at subway station ticket machines.
- How to top up: You can top up with cash at convenience stores or at recharging machines located in subway stations.
- Where to use: In addition to subways and buses, it can be used as a payment method in taxis and some convenience stores.
There are also transfer discounts available, so be sure to use it when taking public transportation. If you have any questions, please leave them on the bulletin board.

Thanks for the great information! For those traveling with children (ages 6–12) or teenagers (ages 13–18), it's worth noting that you must register their date of birth when purchasing a T-money card to receive the discounted fares. Also, a helpful tip for first-time visitors: if you have a small balance remaining after your trip (usually under 20,000–30,000 KRW), you can get an immediate refund at most convenience stores for a small service fee of 500 KRW!
